132) run it. Tor only protects your applications that are properly configured
133) to send their Internet traffic through Tor. To avoid problems with

135) projects/torbrowser>">Tor Browser Bundle</a>. It is pre-configured to
136) protect your privacy and anonymity on the web as long as you're browsing
137) with the Tor Browser itself. Almost any other web browser configuration
138) is likely to be unsafe to use with Tor.</p>

142) Torrent file-sharing applications have been observed to ignore proxy 
143) settings and make direct connections even when they are told to use Tor. 
144) Even if your torrent application connects only through Tor, you will 
145) often send out your real IP address in the tracker GET request, 
146) because that's how torrents work. Not only do you <a 
147) href="https://blog.torproject.org/blog/bittorrent-over-tor-isnt-good-idea">

148) deanonymize your torrent traffic and your other simultaneous Tor web 
149) traffic</a> this way, you also slow down the entire Tor network for everyone else.

153) <p>The Tor Browser will block browser plugins such as Flash, RealPlayer,
154) Quicktime, and others: they can be manipulated into revealing your IP
155) address.  Similarly, we do not recommend installing additional addons or
156) plugins into the Tor Browser, as these may bypass Tor or otherwise harm
157) your anonymity and privacy. The lack of plugins means that Youtube videos
158) are blocked by default, but Youtube does provide an experimental opt-in
159) feature <a href="https://www.youtube.com/html5">(enable it here)</a>

166) and within the Tor network</a>, but the encryption of your traffic to
167) the final destination website depends upon on that website. To help
168) ensure private encryption to websites, the Tor Browser Bundle includes
169) <a href="https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere">HTTPS Everywhere</a>
170) to force the use of HTTPS encryption with major websites that
171) support it. However, you should still watch the browser URL bar to
172) ensure that websites you provide sensitive information to display a <a

174) or green URL bar button</a>, include <b>https://</b> in the URL, and

180) <p>The Tor Browser will warn you before automatically opening
181) documents that are handled by external applications. <b>DO NOT
182) IGNORE THIS WARNING</b>.  You should be very careful when downloading
183) documents via Tor (especially DOC and PDF files) as these documents
184) can contain Internet resources that will be downloaded outside of
185) Tor by the application that opens them. This will reveal your non-Tor
186) IP address. If you must work with DOC and/or PDF files, we strongly
187) recommend either using a disconnected computer, downloading the free <a
188) href="https://www.virtualbox.org/">VirtualBox</a> and using it with a <a

198) you connect to. However, by default, it does not prevent somebody
199) watching your Internet traffic from learning that you're using Tor. If

201) <a href="<page docs/bridges>">Tor bridge relay</a> rather than connecting
202) directly to the public Tor network.  Ultimately the best protection is
203) a social approach: the more Tor users there are near you and the more

205) dangerous it will be that you are one of them. Convince other people to
